Department: Nursing

The Department of Nursing at Lehman College offers innovative and rigorous undergraduate programs designed to prepare students for professional nursing practice and lifelong learning. Our programs emphasize critical thinking, clinical competence, cultural awareness, and a commitment to excellence in patient care.

The Bachelor of Science in Nursing (B.S.) degree is offered through several pathways that serve students at different stages of their nursing education journey:

  • Traditional Generic Nursing Program (B.S. in Nursing)
Designed for students seeking their first degree in nursing, this full-time program prepares graduates for professional practice as registered nurses and for advanced study.

  • Accelerated Generic Nursing Program (B.S. in Nursing)
Intended for individuals who already hold a bachelor’s degree in another field, this intensive, full-time 15-month program leads to eligibility for licensure as a registered nurse.

  • R.N. to B.S. Nursing Program (Traditional)
Designed for registered nurses who have completed an associate degree or diploma in nursing and wish to advance their education and professional opportunities by earning a bachelor’s degree.

  • R.N. to B.S. Nursing Program (Online Option)
Offers registered nurses the flexibility to complete the Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree entirely online while continuing professional practice.

All undergraduate nursing programs fulfill the requirements of the New York State Education Department and are accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE) www.ccneaccreditation.org. Graduates of the generic (traditional and accelerated) programs are eligible to take the National Council Licensing Examination (NCLEX-RN) for licensure as registered professional nurses.

Clinical learning experiences take place in diverse and culturally rich healthcare settings throughout the Bronx, Westchester, and surrounding communities, providing students with real-world exposure and skill development in a variety of practice areas.
