A cross-cultural and longitudinal study of how maps have been used in society and how maps have shaped history. How to analyze and interpret historical events using maps, charts, and graphs, and to create simple maps pertaining to historic events, changes over time, and cultural distributions. How to use archival maps and other historic documents to create new data sets and maps within the framework of geographic information systems (GIS).Prerequisite: Instructor's Permission
